Frequently Asked Questions

What will auditions consist of?

Range Check: This will help us see which vocal part you fit into!

Pitch Matching: We mostly learn our music by ear, so we want to see how quickly you can pick up notes!

Prepared Solo: Sing a 30-60 second cut of any song a cappella so we can hear your tone and voice!

What song should I sing for my solo?

Sing whatever song you would like! Choose a 30-60 second cut of any song that best demonstrates your vocal ability. You don’t need to sing in the original key, so choose your favorite song! We want you to have fun and be comfortable.

If you’re auditioning as a beatboxer/vocal percussionist, prepare a 30-60 second beatbox solo that will show off your cool skills!

What is the time commitment?

We have two 2 hour rehearsals each week: Sundays 2pm-6pm and Thursdays 6:30pm-8:30pm

We also have a couple bootcamps each semester, a Fall Break trip, different gigs on and off campus, and more. We also compete at the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella each year! All these gigs and events are super fun, but don’t sweat it if you can’t make it to every single one!

Do I need previous singing/music experience?

Not at all! We welcome members of all levels of music/singing experience! We’ve had so many members with minimal singing experience, so don’t stress :)
